Pantry Essentials

As I was looking through my cupboards making mental note of what I had on stock and needed to buy the next time I went to pick up groceries I was also trying to figure out what I could make out of one beet, a sweet potato and some frozen spinach for dinner that night. As I rummaged the cupboards I also found a can of garbanzo beans and a can of coconut milk. The wheels began to turn and out of the depth of my brains, curry popped into my mind and I decided that I would throw all the aforementioned ingredients into a pot with some spices and have dinner and lunch for the next day too!  

It also got me to thinking what I should always stock in my kitchen and thought that I would pass it on to you, it is rather handy to have something like this in your kitchen and I made the list easily printable if you wish to print it off and tape up in a cupboard as I will be doing. The following list of items are certainly not the only things that could be in your pantry, and if anyone thinks of anything else they always have on hand I would love to know what it is. I also included some meal ideas that some of these ingredients can be used for.

Meal Ideas:
Garbanzo beans + coconut milk + curry powder + frozen spinach + potatoes = Simple Curry
Chocolate chips + flour + coconut butter + agave syrup  + baking soda = Chocolate Chip Cookies
Rice + frozen vegetables + crushed tomatoes + chilli + garlic  =  Spanish Rice
Tofu + flour + paprika + oil =  “Chicken” Nuggets
Spaghetti + lentils + crush tomatoes + onions + garlic + parsley + oregano =  Simplified Spaghetti Bolognese  
There are so many things you can make with just these ingredients, and so much more when you add in other fresh products!
